Before and After

We bought our house last fall and Adam and I have lived this entire time with one tiny closet to share and NO dresser. Recently, we decided the mess that our bedroom had become could be tolerated no longer and we were going to do something about it.

I searched Craigslist daily until I found a good deal on a solid (and huge) dresser...but BOY was that thing UGLY! (As you can see I had already started sanding the top when I took this picture, but you get the idea.)

After a little bit of stress and a little bit of hard work, we now have this...(don't mind the accessory placement...that's just random stuff I have to find a place for now!!)

We decided on a satin black finish (love it!) and brushed nickel hardware (not what I had in mind but it'll work for now) AND, my personal favorite part...when you open the doors in the middle...BAM! Green drawers. Color chosen to match our new bedding. Love it! (Ooo...and ignore the horrid blue curtains soon to be replaced by light colored roman shades.)

This is mine and Adam's first real DIY project we've done since moving in here, and it feels great! We still have a handful of things to add to the bedroom and I promise to post final "bedroom makeover" photos as soon as that is done.

xoxo

By the way, Mary...if you scroll down towards the end of the page, I have a "101 in 1001" list, and THE PORTRAIT HOUSE is #86 on my list! Love that idea!
